I did once talk to a Professor at a conference who explained that he has personally met and shaken hands with both Elizabeth II and also Charles III (before he was King)
He says that Elizabeth II was utterly charming and very sweet ... but as for Charles III, apparently, not so much.
I did also come across a story told by one of Elizabeth's bodyguards. Once while out walking in some remote place in Scotland, they came across two hikers from the US, and stopped to chat. They did not recognise her. During the conversation it was revealed that he did know the queen, and they got all excited about the idea of meeting a guy who knew her, so they handed her the camera and asked if she could take a picture of the three of them. She quite happily did so, but she also made sure they got a picture with her as well. After they parted and went on their way, she said to her bodyguard "I would love to age a fly on the wall when the find out".
In fact, here is that story being told by that bodyguard...
